Sketched overnight by Gerald Genta and launched in 1972, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak invented the luxury steel sports watch: an octagonal bezel with exposed screws, a Tapisserie dial, an integrated bracelet. A design never equalled, produced in small numbers in Le Brassus.
